What is Dominicus? Bayahibe's residential and resort area
Dominicus is the residential and resort area of Bayahibe, in La Altagracia province, in the east of the Dominican Republic. It began in 1970, when Wayne Fuller arrived from New York determined to create a place that kept its Caribbean soul, and today it offers a Blue Flag beach, golf, Cotubanamá National Park and daily trips to Saona Island. It's where BECCA is developing The Don Dom, the masterplan shaping the area's future.
Where is Dominicus?
On the southern coast of the eastern Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean Sea, next to the village of Bayahibe. It's about 18 minutes from La Romana airport and Casa de Campo, 4 minutes from the Bayahibe Lighthouse and about 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport.
What is the history of Dominicus?
In 1970, Wayne Fuller left New York for this coast with one obsession: that development should never erase the character of the place. That vision gave rise to Dominicus, a neighborhood of low-rise homes, hotels and leafy streets that over the years became known for its calm.
Half a century later, The Don Dom picks up that idea at a new scale: a 120,800 m² masterplan conceived as a small town, with residences, a boutique hotel, retail and services.
What is Dominicus beach like?
White sand and calm water, with a Blue Flag certification since 2003: an international award renewed every year that requires water quality, environmental management, safety and services. In 2023 it was renewed for the twentieth time.
What can you do in Dominicus?
